US News & World Report: 2016 BMW 528i Packs Quite a Punch

For any BMW enthusiasts looking for a well-powered "entry-level" BMW 5 Series (is that even a thing?), the 2016 BMW 528i could be a good choice, at least based on a review of the 2016 5 Series by US News & World Report. Starting at just over $50,000, the last 528i is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that cranks out 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It even earns very good fuel economy for its class: 23 mpg city and 34 mpg highway with rear-wheel drive.

As US News & World Report notes, the interior of the 5 Series is designed for comfort, whether providing peace of mind as you travel to and from the office on a daily basis (it has an exceptionally quiet interior) or supporting you while you navigate highway routes on longer road trips. Up front, the power-adjustable driver and passenger seats have 14-way settings, including a range of lumbar supports, and the rear seats are quite spacious, even for taller passengers. The trunk is relatively spacious, with 14 cubic feet of room for luggage and other gear.

The centerpiece of the cockpit experience is a huge 10.2-inch display mounted on the dashboard. It's the focal point for viewing infotainment "information." Controls for the excellent 12-speaker audio system, navigation and climate settings are all managed through BMW's iDrive controller, which you twist or tap to move through menu and make selections.
